Re: what food to give puppy?
When Chance came home we fed her on McDonalds everyday. Well, not really but all the colours and additives meant there was little difference. We put her on Wainrights but she was loose. We tried her on a working dog feed, but she was still loose and pooed far more than ever before.
I spoke to the Pet shop who recommended that we try her on 'healthy option pet food'. It doesn't seem to sell online but you can read about it here: Healthy Option Dog Food The main things that they suggested was you don't want too much 'cereal' as often it contains gluten/wheat which apparently many dogs are allergic to and you don't want 'derivatives', as these are often mashed up bone or organs and basically whatever is swept off the floor of the slaughter house. Chance is for the first time 'firm' in the poo department and produces a lot less waste than before! |

Re: what food to give puppy?
As already suggested no single food is the best for every dog.
Just go for one you are happy with and try your dog on it. Remember to phase the new food in, as a rapid change in diet can cause its own problems. If you find something that works - stick with it! Good luck |

Re: what food to give puppy?
Offer them whatever good quality dry puppy food you want to use and moisten with a little warm water. In the beginning, offer them food 3 times a day, give them about 20 minutes to eat, then let the mom finish it off. They also need fresh water available when you start introducing them to food.
Keep fresh water available too, is a small, shallow dish.Add milk replacer to this mix, too. Buy a high grade puppy food, and use warm water so soften it.
