Dog acne?

Hi im wondering if anyone knows anything about acne in pups. Bruno is a ten month old pug and is suffering quite badly. At first I was convinced it was an allergy and asked my vet if I should change his food, but he said no. Some of his spots look like boils and I have had to put sudocreme on them. They don't really seem to bother him much as he doesn't scratch at them. The vet says he will outgrow it, but I was wondering if anyone knew of anything to help him in the short term.
Many thanks

Re: Dog acne?

I dont think the vets usually do anything to be honest, unless there is any infection as well, then they will give antibiotics if needed and maybe an anti inflammatory too if itchy and inflammed. As far as I know as long as there are no complications then they should just grow out of it.

It might be worth you searching under Puppy Acne which is what it is known by, you might be able to find some help and suggestions for some natural type remedies or cures on the internet that might help.

Re: Dog acne?

Kenzie had it, even though it's more common in short haired dogs. Now at 14.5 months it's almost gone. She's never needed anything on it, I've just left it alone.

Re: Dog acne?

Hi there
I never found anything that helped with the acne and just let it run its course in the end.

Wishing you the best
