Use a tick and flea med every month during the summer, and this helps keep them at bay.

We tend to use Advantix which I get from the vet, and the only time we pick up ticks, is when he is due his monthly dose.

I take them off me more than the dog!

Lymes has been very common this year though, and I know of several people who have contracted it
**** that's bad I don't think people realise how dangerous it can be and how difficult it is to get rid of. Were they all in perthshire and did they take any precautions

Re: Deer ticks / Lyme Disease

I'm in north Lancashire and I know 6 people who have/have had Lyme disease - 2 of them have some long-standing problems as a result. I've had loads of tick bites but no illness. I use Advantix on my dogs, it really stops the ticks attaching in the first place.
