Sores on paws from doors

Ridiculous title, yes. But truth - mister Patch has been problematic with being left. He has taught himself to open doors, so is jumping up at his door (we've blocked it from being opened though!)

Anyhow he has now cut his paws - not badly, kind of blistered. He is licking them a lot so obviously sore.

I'm inclined to clean and sudocrem them or similar - oh is of the thoughts that if they are sore he will stop trashing the door.

So should they be cleaned and dressed or covered - I'm just worried as they are on his feet (which are towelled down twice a day as its muddy where he goes for walks).

I'd be inclined to leave, no cream, no cover. It would be messy and delay healing. He's better off hardening them up.

Have you considered getting him a companion?

No partly because we never really thought about it and partly because he terrorised his kennel companion, barking in its face and he has been the same with dogs he has met. He is very jealous with the horses too - so suspect it would be a long story either way.
