Trying to find suitable dog food :(

Okay I'm trying to find suitable food for my boys.

They currently get fed on AG Lamb & Rice.

But considering that's got maize in, I want to change over to something that has No maize, No artificial additives, flavourings or preservatives, no wheat.

Mainly because Zeus has a dry skin condition and has done since he was a puppy, his mother had the same problem.

So the dog foods I'm currently looking at are:
  • Skinners Lamb & Rice
  • Skinners Duck & Rice
  • Skinners Salmon & Rice
  • Skinners Turkey & Rice
  • Burgess Supadog Sensitive

And those are the only ones I can think of at the minute.

Ideally the price range will be most at £35 a month, but the bag has to last a month between 3 dogs, as I have to feed my mothers dog also.

Last 15kg bag of AG lasted me about 3 weeks :/ Maybe I'm giving them too much?

Re: Trying to find suitable dog food :(

Mine have Vitalin and potato cereal free so that maybe an option for your boys.
Both my girls have done very well on it with no upset tummys and lovely soft coats and they enjoy it

I have used skinners f/t in the past but one of them cant seem to tolerate it

Re: Trying to find suitable dog food :(

Looking at the Wainwrights and it looks good ingredients wise for no wheat, no maize etc, and it's not all that bad of a price.

I was just about to suggest Wainwrights. Make sure you go for the Salmon and Potato or the Turkey and vegetables though as these don't have cereals in them .

What weight are your dogs?

Re: Trying to find suitable dog food :(

Ive just changed my two over to AG lamb and rice and they have been great on it. I was dubious because of the maize as my lurcher suffers from bouts of colitis and was itching on the Skinners salmon and rice. I took a gamble and its paid off, shes been fine on the AG. It doesn't have any wheat in it, its supposed to be one of the best foods i thought, it gets a 4 star rating on dog food analysis if thats anything to go by.

The oil content is good to at 16% which is good for the skin and coat.

Re: Trying to find suitable dog food :(

Yeah I thought the same but Zeus still has very itchy skin, you just have to scratch him once down the sides and he does that weird thing, I can't describe it lol.
