tail problem

Hi

Poppy is a 15month springer/cocker cross, had her spayed about 3 weeks ago with no problems and fully recovered. I took her out yesterday with some friends and their dogs - a regular thing - Poppy loves one of the dogs in particular and they both play quite rough. Anyway went out everything ok, she was fine when we got home. I noticed later on in the afternoon that she wasnt wagging her tail and it was hung down - usually up over her back like a question mark. During the evening she wagged it a little more but it was still a bit limp. I've been on the beach today where she was running around and her tail was up for some of the time but down for most. I've felt all along it, looked for any visible signs but can find nothing at all wrong. Generally in herself shes fine, eating well, going to the toilet ok and lifts her tail to do a poo and a wee.
Has anyone any idea what the problem could be ? could it be broken or maybe shes been playing too rough ?

Don't worry it is very common especially in gundog breeds.

It is called swimmers/dead/frozen tail etc and is usually as the result from a lot of swimming, but it can occur after a lot of activity.

Nobody really understands why this happens.

It will wear off after a couple of days or so, it is perfectly normal.
