Burns Fish & Brown Rice anyone? Or Low Phosphorous alternative?

After days of research (there's so much info on low phosphorous food in the US but not so much for the UK), I've come across Burns which might be suitable.

Due to abnormal sized kidneys in my 16 week old pup, until we have full diagnosis in 5 weeks, I've got to lower the protein & phosphorous levels from the Orijen Puppy/Naturediet I'm currently feeding her.

Not keen on the main content of the Burns being rice. It if I add some protein such as egg whites & natural probiotic yoghurt or lamb mince the it should be ok.

I was going to swap to Acana Grasslands but the phosphorous content is still a bit high.

Does anyone feed the Burns please? Are you happy with it?

Thanks

T

I feed Mavis burns...i know it n ot great with the rice content etc..but..if needs must... have you tried ringing their helpline they are extremely helpful..

I would check out first about the egg white....i thought egg white was high in protein but, its a good quality protein...i know with one of my dogs in the past it was too high in protein for him...but he had liver issues

Can I just ask why the vet did not presribe a renal diet food such as Hills K/D?

Because until she's rescanned in 4-5 weeks after treating her current UTI with antibiotics, he doesn't want her on such a low protein diet until a diagnosis is made. She needs the protein as she's a pup.

Re: Burns Fish & Brown Rice anyone? Or Low Phosphorous alternative?

I feed Burns, currently Lamb and Rice. It's the first food my dogs have ever been seriously enthusiastic about! They are all fit, their coats are good, and their poos are smaller and healthier.

The cats have Fish and Brown rice, and the dogs go mad for that so I think next time I will buy fish flavour for the dogs.
