Re: Thundershirt - is it just me?

I agree, I was wary, but Thundershirt definitely seems to be the real deal. Anxiety wraps appear to be based on the same prinicple as far as I can make out, but don't seem to be as effective (however that is not based on my experiences, just those I have read on here and elsewhere).

Calms mine a tiny tiny bit- but then he is not nervous, just massively over excited!

The anxiety wraps are exactly the same- the thundershirt is based on them not the other way round.

Glad you are finding it effective - I personally can't fault them and next Saturday will be the real test as there is a firework display just round the corner on the beach.
Have never used the wrap but I like the way the thundershirt completely swaddles them.

Re: Thundershirt - is it just me?

I've just got one for kai and it really seems to be helping him in the car! he's only been in the car twice with it on but both time he's got in a zoned out he didn't bark at people, and only barked at dogs in the same way he would have previously barked at people (big improvement!)

I found that it had a positive effect, but only when i used it going through the normal calming routine. I think you should be wary of people trying to sell it as something that will miraculously cure your dogs fear.
I tried the anxiety wrap first and found it helped a bit, but it tended to not stay exactly where it was meant to be, sliding sown the fur on a smooth-coated dog. The Thundershirt is much better, more effective.

The Thundershirt gives a money-back guarantee if you're not happy with the results.

opie certainly seems more relaxed when we've met other dogs when he's been on lead lately when wearing his thundershirt. makes no difference when we bump into horses though

Re: Thundershirt - is it just me?

Alfie wears his when it Thunders and if there are fireworks, my hubby really had a go at me for buying it but has conceded that it does work wonders. He remains calm where he used to tremble and pant for hours.

Re: Thundershirt - is it just me?

Worked wonders at first for Mavis, at the beginning...but I made the mistake of taking her to the vets again without putting it on in between visits...she associated the jacket with going to the vets before she even got out of the house...she was a wreck

as for chester..it really calms him down especially if he is over tired ,
