Puppy eating

It seems like i'm going to use this forum quite often now Had peeing problem in the morning (and recieved here brilliant answers) and now its feeding.

Our beagle puppy is a bit fat, but since she moved here (2 days ago) she is not eating much. Otherwise she feels very good, playing and sleeping a lot. We got her special puppy food Royal Canin as advised by our vet, but she is not eating it much.

Actually she ate good this morning, but felt sick couple hours later (maybe because she doesn't chew it much, just ate in whole pieces). I mixed this food with water, but she didn't eat as well.

Any advises? Is it ok or should i do something?

Many thanks

Royal Canin digest and skin. First of all we gave it without water as our vet said she suppose to eat it like it is. But today i mixed it with water. Also my wife gave her little bit from her hand and then she started eating from her bowl as well.

She was on Tesco puppy food before

Re: Puppy eating

Mine had royal canin junior 32, I mix it with cooked chicken and they love it, sometimes they jet it on it's own but would rather have it with chicken or beef, (well, wouldn't you???)

I have since changed to james wellbeloved, Poppy has anal gland probs and it seemed to have a higher fibre content, she still gets meat with it though. If they ever want to be fussy I don't give them anything else until they have eaten what's there! they soon learn there's no alternative!!

Re: Puppy eating

Our Rocky used to be sick quite a few times when he was smaller as he used to eat too quickly and then 5 minutes later he would be sick But he soon got better at eating properly and until this morning hadn't been sick for quite a while.

I would keep trying the same food for a few meals - dogs can be fussy and only then if he won't eat it then swap to something else. Do what hannahbanana129 said, if they don't eat it remove it after 20 minutes and they don't get fed til the next meal time - usually cures them!

Re: Puppy eating

Sometimes it's a bit of a minefield trying to get a food the dog will eat. Mine was very fussy so I use to worry a lot. He now eats ( and loves Burns lamb/rice kibble with a bit of their moist lamb/rice mixed in ) I also found when I mixed the kibble with water he would be sick maybe it goes down in a lump.

Bit unusual a beagle that doesn't eat much - they are renowned for their continuous hungry appetite and would eat as much as they could if given the opportunity.

We have a beagle pup (5 months old now) and we feed him on wainwrights dry food (salmon flavour, which we don't add any water) twice a day and wainwrights wet food once a day - he loves it and always clears up his plate.

we add a spoonful of natural yoghurt on one of his dry food meals.
