Re: Sensitive Stomach - Supplements?

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but pet owners, who do not have any veterinary medicine qualifications, but who insist on self diagnosing and treating, are putting their dogs, health at risk.
It depends what the problem is - I very clearly said in my post that I feel the OP should see a vet - however - she also very clearly says her dog has always had a sensitive stomach.

As for doing more damage - it depends on the problem and its severity - my friends dog lost 10kg in less weeks - the vets were advising her to PTS - that dog now looks like there's never been anything wrong with him - and it does seem the problem was caused by vets actions in the first place which cost over £3K to investiage - dog is now back in the ring and winning on a regular basis.

I am not for one minute saying anyone should overlook their vets advice (as I said in my post - seek veterinary advice) - however many supplements certainly won't hurt and actually might be sufficient to solve the problem.

Companies such as Dorwest are very good at advising. Humans use Tree Bark Powder which can be bought in most health food shops - short term - it may well be something that can be treated with supplements - sadly, vets are all too notorious for fleecing money out of us.

When my girl seriously injured her neck - it's a good job WE were on the ball because the vet sent her home with Metacam - another couple of hours if we hadn't acted, and it's quite likely she would not be with us now

There is no such medical problem as a "sensitive stomach". This is not a term used in medicine.

As for doing more damage -
You have no idea what is in the "medicine"
Medscape: Medscape Access

a great number of "alternative" medicines are, in fact, contaminated with other substances- quality control and adherence being lax or even absent.

It's very common for "alternative" medicines to be spiked (intentionally) with active pharmaceuticals.

"Natural", "herbal" and "alternative" DO NOT mean safe!

I can provide copious ammounts of evidence, should anyone wish to take the time and trouble to find out what they may be giving to their beloved pets.
