Wainwrites dry.

Is there a diffirence between wainwrites puppy salmon and potato and turkey and rice apart from the obvious? Would potato or rice be better on a poorley tum? I know they are both fillers but I was wondering if a fish bassed protien may be better than a poultry based one. He's on the turkey and rice at the mo.

Re: Wainwrites dry.

Fish and potato combos are generally better for sensitive tums than cereal based kibbles.

Re: Wainwrites dry.

Depends on his tummy - I use James Wellbeloved for some of mine, and I chop and change the flavours over at the end of every bag, no introducing, just straight swap and they're fine, but none of them have sensitive tummies.

Probably best if you do introduce slowly considering he's a pup and you've already said his tummy isn't the best.

Although that said - looking at your 'tickers' in your sig - your youngest appears to be 9 months? You don't really need puppy food at all anyway, but especially not at that age

He's the oldest.. He's very extreemly underweight and so we have been advised by the vet to use a hypoallergenic puppy food.

This is the extent.. We'll of had him 3 weeks monday, he has put on 1.3kg

Re: Wainwrites dry.

Oh bless his heart, he's very skinny isn't he

I've always found lactol (puppy milk) to be great for getting weight on dogs - my greyhounds came to be very underweight and four small meals a day of grain free kibble - 2 soaked in lactol & 2 dry - with a little bit of calopet nutritional supplement, and 1/2 tray of Naturediet puppy food before bed, got the weight on them brilliantly.

After about four months they then swapped onto my usual diet, which is part raw/part kibble, and they've maintained their weights nicely ever since.

The lactol and calopet paste just sneaks some extra fat and calories into them without overloading their tummies with too much food.

Beaphar Sherleys Lactol Vitamin Fortified Milk Powder - From £4.74
Calo Pet High Energy Nutritional Support - £6.74

Good luck with him.

Re: Wainwrites dry.

Fish and potato would be my preferred, I also think it had higher calories, I could be wrong but certainly when willow was on F4D she needed much lees food to maintain weight.

I think the plan that sixstar has mentioned sounds fab
I hope you get even more weight on him soon, what a lovely face he has

Thanks hun I'll take a look at those. It's down to allergies or thats what we think. The vet orriginally suspected an enzyme dificancy but he's been putting weight on so we don't think it's that, maybe just allergies and he can't digest cerain things as well as other dogs.

It's taken him a while to settle in but he's staring to come out of his shell and is a very affectionate boy.
