Prize Choice meat range at P@H - ok for a puppy?

Ive been advised to get some meat to add a bit of variety to the puppy's dry food whilst she settles at home.

Which from the range of mince & tripe would I best to go for with a new puppy?

Thanks x

What dry food is she on?

If you're feeding 4 or less meals a week with the raw meat, then yeah perhaps the chicken should suffice from Prize Choice but if you want to feed her more than that then you should research on Raw Feeding to make sure pup is getting enough nutrition

Re: Prize Choice meat range at P@H - ok for a puppy?

A lot of people don't advise feeding both raw and cooked (dry) together for digestive reasons (although some people say it's ok). I prefer to err on the side of caution and would be especially careful with a puppy.

I think you need to either feed raw one day and kibble the next, or add some 'cooked' wet to the dry food instead of raw, such as Wainwrights wet, NatureDiet, Natures Menu etc

Re: Prize Choice meat range at P@H - ok for a puppy?

We get her next week but the breeder feeds royal Canin with 3-4 ozs of meat. I'd rather feed a mostly dry diet (at least to start as I need to have a proper look into raw but I'm happy to follow what the breeder does for a while so the pup is feed familiar food. X

She did mention tripe & said p@h do it.

Ok that's great thanks, I'll have a look tomorrow!

I'd hoping to change over to Acana after a month or so, that wouldn't be too soon would it? X

Not at all, you could even swap after 2-3 weeks if you wanted (I'm sure you know to do it slowly).

Acana and ND sounds like a great diet

Thanks for your help & advice, it's a minfield out there.

Was going to change to Orijen but breeder said it's too high in protein for a non working dog as a puppy particularly, so I thought Acana would be better. Hopefully that's a good decision. X

Re: Prize Choice meat range at P@H - ok for a puppy?

I wouldnt worry about the protein in a quality food like orijen or acana, it is the source of protein that is the important thing.
