Nature Diet feeding guide.

Wesley is 14 weeks old now and eating Nature Diet. I've been giving him 1 pack per day in 2 meals and 1 bowl of James Wellbeloved. Just checked the site and for his weight and age it suggests 2 packs of naturediet per day! This seems way too much to me. Or am I under feeding my pup? He still has all his energy and never begs for food. Just any advice would be great. Dont want to starve my beloved beagle!

Re: Nature Diet feeding guide.

Can't advise about nature diet specifically as I have never used it, but think a 14 week puppy should be on 3 or 4 meals a day rather than 2

Re: Nature Diet feeding guide.

If you are giving him dry food too (I presume you mean the JWB is dry?) then 1 pack a day would be fine. And remember, guidelines are just that - guides! Each dog is different and if he is happy and healthy on that amount - then that's what counts!

Bearcub - from what I gather the OP is giving 2 wet meals and 1 dry meal a day, so 3 meals daily, which is right for 14 weeks

Re: Nature Diet feeding guide.

Like bearcub said your puppy really should be on 3 meals a day until 5-6 months. Unless you mean you give ND for 2 meals and JWB for the other one?

2 trays of ND seems like a huge amount, especially with dry too! What does your beagle weigh?

I've always really gone by 'eye' - fed what I thought seemed right for my pup and it has always been fine but if she was looking too thin I'd give her a bit more, and if she was looking a bit podgy feed a bit less. Ideally you should be able to feel their ribs but they shouldn't stick out.

Of course the trick is keeping it at the correct amount as they grow!

Thanks for the advice! Feel better now
Yes the dry JWB biscuits, which he doesn't always finish but I leave them down for him. I guess he'd wolf them down if he was overly hungry.
Yeah three meals a day, which is his routine now, and he seems ok with it.
He also gets a bit extra from training treats

Yes the JWB is another meal so it's 3 a day.

He's 7KG, so he's gaining weight, I had to use a suitcase weight device to weigh him today using his harness, it was quite funny, but he wont stay still on scales.

Re: Nature Diet feeding guide.

although just one point to make, I would leave the dry down for him all the time. Put it down at meal time and anything that isnt gone pick up and dispose of/reuse.

Re: Nature Diet feeding guide.

He's looking very lean, which is why I was worried I was under feeding him! He is growing at a rate though, his paws are like bats, people say that means he is going to be rather large! I hope they are wrong...

I will try and sort out more pics before I go on holiday number 2!
