Scratching

Hi all. I am new here and would like some advice please.

I have a friend who has a 8 month old DDB she has been scratching her ears inside and out and has some visible scabs on her head. She has been treated by a vet who said it was Ezcema, he prescribed cream which seemed to help but it appears to have flared up more she still has red ears both inside and out but is now showing signs of going bald along with scabs on the top of her head and on her front legs and chest.

The vet has examined her again and still says it is ezcema, he has not recommended any other treatment, is there a cream or shampoo that someone can recommend or even maybe some advise about anything to supplement her diet that would help, as far as we can see it is not contagious as her other dog (the pups mum) has no sign of having contracted this.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum

What is your friend feeding the dog?

I'm not a vet but personally if it was an on-going problem I'd ask for a skin scrape or some other tests to determine the cause of the problem.

Perhaps your friend should look at changing vets if she isn't happy with how they are dealing with the problem.

Dermaccton products are good, all natural the do a shampoo bar, spray or cream for the skin and there is also an ear cleaner and drops, worked on a lot of dogs, for details Aromesse Natural Animal Healthcare Products for Dogs, Cats and Horses

a good supplement that has also helped is yumega plus Lintbells - Proven to improve your pet's health. Naturally - Lintbells although that you can geet from pets at home.

Re: Scratching

A DDB with itchy skin....rolleyes:

You need your vet to investigate further.
Likely to be an allergic reaction to something, unfortunately most skin problems are lifelong and are managed in somecases but never truely cured.
