Unhappy worming a new pup

I had a pup 12 yrs. ago. That being my only experience, I need some help! I've got an 8 wk. old JRT and his stool has been a little runny and a little, very little bloody, is that worms? He was wormed at 7 wks, if worms, how often can he be wormed? Thanks.

Re: worming a new pup

What did you use last time and did the vet do it. Some times it depends on how infested they are. Might be worth putting him on a light diet for a day or to till his stomach settles a bit. If no change id take him to the vets as they can dehydrate quickley if persistate upset tums.

Thanks for quick response. He was wormed by breeder, so can't get that info till this evening, but will go to vet asap and use your advice today.

Re: worming a new pup

You can always ring your vet for advice also as they dont charge for advice given on the phone. Hope hes a bit better soon. I used Drontol on mine but im not sure of the age it can be given from some wormers dont work on all the worms i have found this to be very good.

Re: worming a new pup

it would normally be 8 weeks then again at 12 weeks, panacur oral paste is a good puppy one for 12 weeks and under I didnt use drontal till mine was 16weeks but theres nothing to say you cant but found the paste easier to use as its just like a horse wormer you squirt the paste straight into the mouth

has his poo got any mucus in it could possibly be worms sounds like it but vet would be best to check

Red face Re: worming a new pup

I haven't seen any mucous, and I've been looking pretty good. Will still go to vet. Will rice or eggs, or combo of, be ok to give today? Thanks for all the help.

Re: worming a new pup

They normally say scrambled egg/rice or chicken and rice. White fish is ok normally to. But just till tummy settles or he wont get all the vits he requires. See how he is after hes wormed if not any change see vet.

Re: worming a new pup
