Hi, my bitch jug suki is sore around the base of her vulva and she keeps licking it. I havent noticed any discharge yet, and her vulva does look swollen but she is just about 6 mth old so it would be her first season so I arent sure. I dont know what to do about the soreness, my partner is wanting to put cream on her but I wont let him for obvious reasons.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

how do you know she is sore? She will be licking to clean herself, if coming into season and the swelling will also be due to coming in. - sometimes their vulva can become darker.

i am assuming she is sore because it is red around it.

i would take her to the vet it could be vaginitis or some other infection, is she still off her food and thirsty?

I agree with Noushka, there obviously still seems something amiss and not quite right still since your earlier thread. For the sake of a consultation fee and a little time, at least your mind would be at rest, or if it is an infection then at least it could be sorted.

Just to update you, I took suki to the vets yesterday and she has dermatitis due to have a fold where she shouldnt which may result in surgery if it doesnt right itself after her first season and the dermatitis continues.

Let's hope it corrects itself then, and fingers crossed she's better soon.

I must admit, one of my bitches looks like a baboon her vulva swells that much duringher seasons, it looks like a target! So I can imagine if you're not used to seeing that extent of swelling it could look very sore and odd.

Lol! Our shar pei has a very..uh..prominent vulva, before she was spayed she'd get very swollen and baboony.. This made me chuckle!
