Another wet food option

We feed our hound JWB kibble in the morning then JWB kibble mixed with naturediet wet at night (half and half)

Having just opened a new crate of naturediet last night and found half of them off, I've gone off them again.

We tried Forthglade as an alternative whilst naturediet had a dodgy batch before (we buy from wholesale) but he lost his shiney coat plus the packets were a sod to open.

What else could I try?

TIA

There's a few. Wainwrights wet is my go too food. Arden grange partners, natures menu, natures harvest, lilys kitchen. And zooplus do a range of great foods. Rinti, rocco, Lukullis, terra canis, hermans organic.

Do you mind me asking what date this box had on it?? I thought this problem had been sorted out now. Was it a recent BB date? Anyone else still having this trouble?

Re: Another wet food option

Wainwrights wet trays get my vote. Not the best wet out there but I keep coming back to it as it seems to suit Heidi best of all.
Sorts her out everytime she has an upset so it's now part of her routine diet.

I tried ND again a few weeks ago. No dodgy packs and it looks as tho they've re-designed the seal but Heidi's tum wasnt too keen.

Funnily enough, there was a blown one in the last box of WW I bought but the assistant smelt it and offered an exchange of 10% off the box.

Re: Another wet food option

I think any of the high-quality wets can suffer the odd "blown pack". There's no preservatives in them and they've only got to get damaged or mishandled during transit and the seal can get damaged. I've had this with ND, NM (pouch), WW, FG and NH - in fact, all of the wets I have fed, with the exception of the tinned NM and AG.

As long as it doesn't happen too often (which it did at one time with the ND) and they're happy to exchange/refund I'm not too bothered, but if it gets too often........

Agreed....and i also feed the above and Lukulus Gourmet in rotation

The beauty of these foods is they come in ringpull open cans so no risk of a blown pack or the grief of opening somepackets

I've had a few dented cans but readily refund them.

As Claire says - with no nasties to preserve them and most steam sterilised it's bound to happen occasionally and I would rather that than preservatives. Presumably canned food is prepared differently or ND WW etc would be canning theirs too.

I hope the ND is more resilient with the different seal. Mine seemed much more better.

Good point....i dont know if steamed\or cold fill\low temp is better

As to cooking process for Terra Cannis it states:

The gentle cooking process (cold filling & low cooking temperature) ensures that the high class natural vitamins, secondary plant material, minerals/ trace elements, and proteins are preserved to an extremely high degree.

For the Hermanns it states:

Herrmanns Dog Food is especially gently made so that the full vitamin and mineral content remains - the entire production is approved by German organic certifier Biokreis.

Lukulus state

All ingredients are freshly processed in a gentle cooking process

Rocco state

The especially gentle cooking process preserves Rocco's healthy nutrients and strong meat flavour. Rocco wet food is both gluten and wheat-free.

Does anyone know if steamed or cold\low temp is better ?
