Re: What could this possibly be???
Cant be of any help but I hope you get some answers
Like you say without itching it seems so strange.Just on a side note have you ever used the ziwipeak treats? Does the dry look the same as them (I have the treats) Aldo have you used the wet as I am thinking of taking it camping. Thanks Vicki

Re: What could this possibly be???
Yeah, if only she would itch!
(not really!)I haven't used the treats but I suspect they're quite similar. The dry food is like thin 1cm squares of jerky. I always put some hot water with it to make it a bit easier to eat. I use the wet too, a can does her three meals so I usually use one can spread over a few days. It's much more 'meaty' than Wainwrights or ND wet, you can really see the tasty bits Although if you put water with it you can mush it into more of a paste, it's not like solid meat chunks. Kenzie LOVES it ![]() |

Re: What could this possibly be???
kody had EXACTLY the same thing a few weeks back. tiny tiny wee lumps, like pinpricks all over him. most were on his ears, but he had a few on the side of his face, and some spread over the whole of his body.
was at a loss as to what it could be, but it didnt seem to be bothering him. after much thought, we decided it was ant bites!! when hes in the garden he likes to lie on the patio in the sun, and where he always chooses to lie there are always ants kicking about! they all went down after just a few days. we gave him half a piriton tablet for a few days. he must have just been a tasty snack to them that week!

Re: What could this possibly be???
well he had been going at the inside of his ears, but i just did a course of eardrops for a week and that stopped that. he was scratching but not in a way that made me think he was being irritated.

Re: What could this possibly be???
We had a similar situation with Ted. About 2 months ago I noticed little scabs on his chest, on the inside of each paw just above the pads, hocks, one on his chin and a few on his tumm, mind you none on his ears. They looked like little blister scabs, if you know what I mean.
The vet said it was unlikely an allergy with him being so young, prescribed some antibiotics and piriton. During this period he was itchy, and when you touched the scabs he became agitated, indicating they were a little sore. They cleared up in a few weeks. With no obvious indication as to the cause we concluded it was possibly one of the following: a) Ant bites from the garden, we have lots of ants on the grass and he loves to loll around on the grass. b) He was pricked by thistles one day when he was having a good play in the fields at the back of the house. c) One field has very long straw type grass, and again he may have been scraped by the grass. The above was based on the fact that all scabs were on the 'underside' of him and none on his back or on top of his head. From recollection the vet said that if they did not clear up the next line of investigation would be a skin scrape. Hope this helps. |

Re: What could this possibly be???
When our Westie was with us ( Bella of blessed memory) she used to be terribly bothered by harvest mites in the summer. They are microscopic tiny bugs that are bright red, like little pinpricks. They get in between the pads of the paws and then when the dog scratches they spread to other areas and cause havoc especially for westies with sensitive skin anyway. She would bite herself silly and get hotspots.
If you check between the claws in the webbed bit you will see tiny red dots. I used to pick them off by scraping with my nail(nice!) and then you could wash the paws with teatree oil. Hope your pooch will get better soon. When we had Bella, we didn't know anything about allergies and food, we might have saved her lots of itchiness and sore skin : ( |

Re: What could this possibly be???
Have you noticed if the scabs "move". Misty had this and the vet couldn't find anything that was the cause. Started with little bumps that turned into scabs but they kind of moved, as one side (of scab) would clear then the other side would get it. Really weird. She had anti bs and had to be bathed in special shampoo every other day. She wasn't itchy either

Re: What could this possibly be???
Well the vet had another good look (actually a different vet) and they were still a bit perplexed. Said it could be harvest mites but there wasn't really any sign of them. Anyway this time she's been given oral antibiotics and a frontline spray, so hopefully whatever they are that will clear them up
