i just want to cry

my baby girl has luxating patella , and no looks like she has hd as she sometimes sits funny as ive heard this is most likely the sign of hd but cant be confirmed with out a xray , i just feel horrible as am going away soon and having to put her in the kennels , not get me wrong she will be well looked after am just worried something will happen whilst am a way x

ive spoke to my vet and he told me not to worry and have the xray when i come bk , as if it is she prob wont need any treatment as of yet anyway x

Sorry to hear this; go away and enjoy yourself then sort the x-rays when you get back - having them sooner or worrying won't change the treatment of your girl as the vet said .

there is many on here who have dogs with similar problems so i am sure you will come to a treatment programme to help her
mobile bones by poochandmutt is one that i have heard to help
I have used their bionic biotics and it is fab

I believe but you would have to double check dogs are usually a year before hip xrays and scoring is done for the BVA/KC health testing schemes.

I did go through a similar thing with Nanuq my youngest, i was convinced her hips were dodgy and she had a paculiar rear gait too, at 9mths the vets watched her walk and examined her, On walking they shared my concerns, on physical exam there was nothing glaringly obvious. I had her X rayed when she was spayed at a year and her hips are fine. So try not to think the worst yet.
X rays are the only way, and if she has got luxating patellas which there is varying degrees of anyway, maybe thats making it appear there is a hip problem too.
