Arden Grange

I've never tried it before really, but I was at the groomers the other day and she gave me a bag of the Salmon one for half price as they had no smaller ones left for me to try.

I mixed it in with a little bit of skinners for the past few days but Harvey and Roo have been picking the AG out and leaving the Skinners. So yesterday they had morning on Skinners and evening on AG.

They go mad for it when I've put it down, and although a bit more expensive than Skinners I don't have to feed as much of it. Wonder how many other's use it on here and what they make of it, and are the other flavours as good?

(I'm happy Roo's eating a dry food...i've been topping it with some nature's menu tins once a day. I bulk bought some to stop the Butchers tripe tins and its been going down a treat).

Re: Arden Grange

My dogs were on Arden Grange after Burns but before Raw. Yes they loved it. It contains a lot of fat so be careful of their weight.

Re: Arden Grange

Monty was on that for a while before I switched to Barking Heads.
It is a good medium priced food- although there are some fillers in it. I would recommend it though.

The lamb variety is the best one according to the dog food analysis website and is also the cheapest.

Vetuk sell it and are currently doing free deliveries if you spend over £19.

If you work out the cost per meal you might be surprised that it might even work out the same as Skinners. ( can't comment as don't know skinners prices)
Horse and Hound likes this.

Re: Arden Grange

We have used the AG salmon and rice with no probs.

I have also used AG chicken and rice and they did like that better and its slightly cheaper.
You can get small bags of AG 2.5kg in lamb and chicken flavours from waitrose if that helps to try different flavours.

Re: Arden Grange

We use this for all the dogs that come into us at KGR and it's great for putting weight and condition back on dogs that are in a bit of a state - we use the lamb and rice. When I adopted Ely and Gypsy they were both on and did great before I switched them to raw. It's a good food and is great for the price.

Re: Arden Grange

AG is a great food, not amazing but for the price it's fantastic.

Their lamb and rice gets 4* over at the review site and is always on offer at berriewood.

Always seems to have a fantastic effect on coats too.

Ooooh thanks for that tip. My groomers hubby is a rep so he's going to get some samples for me to try and see, but they seem to like the Salmon one.

Good to know! One thing I pride myself on is my dogs coats. They are fantastic. You can't see with Roo so much as he's wire haired, but Harvey is so soft, silky and shiny. Both have healthy skin as well.

It can be high in fat but I'll just keep an eye out. They both do that much running and walking with me and other half, harvey could do to put a bit on I think. I feed by sight anyway to be fair, but they are both full now after their meals instead of sitting and begging for treats. I always give them their food then a chew/biscuit and Roo refused his.

Re: Arden Grange

My 3 are all on Arden Grange.

The youngster is on Lamb and Rice - the 10 yr old (with a food allergy) is on Sensitive Ocean White Fish and Potato and I've just changed the old lady onto the Senior.

I've been using it for several years now and when Leafy had her last bad bout of diarrheoa I emailed the vet/nutritionist at AG, who couldn't have been more helpful and honest. Fingers crossed, but she's been on the sensitive for 9 months now and doing well, plus its over £20 cheaper than the Royal Canin Prescription food that the Vet College prescribed.

Re: Arden Grange

We only ever tried the Fish and Potato one, not salmon it was the sensitive one..?

Roo did really well on it, I changed him over to Fish4Dogs in the end but nothing about the AG made me very unhappy, just liked Fish4Dogs to look at more.

Re: Arden Grange

Im currently transitioning from Orijen to Arden Grange. I didnt see any difference in my lab while on Orijen so I couldnt justify spending £55 a bag on it. So far im impressed with AG. She is on the Lamb and rice flavour. Plenty of energy, small well formed poops, not too fattening. Being a lab she'll eat anything but she does get excited when she hears the bag opening!
