Re: Osteoarthritis & Metacam

Poor Sox, he is very lucky to have such a great owner/companion such as yourself! I have an older pup that has been diagnosed with arthritis and has done extremely well on a product called Synflex. It's a liquid glucosamine supplement that is all natural and has no nasty side effects. my pup Sasha has been taking it for 2 years with great results. good luck with Sox! Best wishes

An MRI scan on my back showed it to be in a right flipping mess - and I am now on silly high doses of a load of painkillers including tramadol, diazepam, paracetamol, amitryptyline and ibuprofen if required - I tend to alternate the tramadol and paracetamol with high strength co-codamol - but nothing is really working (although a crufts qualifier and my meds did ease the pain for a short period )

A few months back - I had to send my bioflow bracelet away to have the catch fixed - OMG - I noticed a significant deterioration in my pain levels until I got it back - proving that although it doesn't actually solve my problem - it certainly does help in some ways.

Unfortunate about the Green Lipped Mussel - as it's a very good supplement -have you tried other products where it is incorporated to see if that makes any difference?

Bioflow do a Booster belt containing three magnets which can be velcro'd to a whole host of things - I've definitely found these - along with a heat patch to help a little when I am showing (plus a huge dose of all my painkillers beforehand)!! - otherwise, I am now lucky if I can walk to my car without being doubled up with pain - I know far much more than I would like about osteo-arthritis for my age - both personally and through my girl

Thankfully, my OH is now mobile again following surgery on his knee - otherwise we would be in a right pickle !!
Sorry you are in pain, you mention the green lipped mussel for your doggies, do you take the same yourself? I know you used to be able to get it for people, my mum has had terrible arthritis for years and she used to take it from memory I think it was called Seatone or something like that. Stinks horrible but it did help her a lot in the early days
