Exclamation Chihuahua Mix, Born Without Tail (?) - Adopting Tomorrow. Health Concerns?

Hi Everyone!

After months of searching for a small pup in local shelters, I finally found my darling. He's a tan-colored chihuahua mix (we think he's part chihuahua, part yorkie, maybe something else as well) with a white splash on his chest. He's as cuddly and loving as can be. The rescue thinks he's about 8 weeks old, though I'd venture more like 7.

The odd thing is that he doesn't seem to have a tail. At least, if he does, it's only a little stub of a thing and hardly there at all.

The rescue told me that sometimes they're born that way, and it's normal. I was too busy cuddling with my new pal to really pay much attention, but after doing some reading I'm becoming concerned over possible health issues.

We're having him checked by the rescue's vet overnight and we're picking him up tomorrow. Is there anything specific that I should watch out for? Should I get him checked by a different vet?

Thank you so much!

i would imagine that if you are getting him from a rescue there normally good at making sure the dogs are fit and well when being picked up by new owners. If concered you could take your new pup to a local vet as soon as you can . Then they can say if all is well. sounds very cute. good luck.,
