Reasons for chewing/biting in older dog
My old girl is chewing on her back legs and flanks. She has arthritis quite badly. I have checked her over thoroughly and there are no fleas or dirts. She was on Metacam until it ceased to be effective and is now starting on Rimadyl again, I don't like it but if it eases her pain, then OK.
My question is, is the chewing of the legs likely to be her trying to relieve the pain? Or could there be another explanation that I have missed? |

Re: Reasons for chewing/biting in older dog
We tried a supplement called Joint aid for dogs, but that did nothing. She inproved greatly from changing to raw diet but is now in discomfort. She refuses to eat any shop bought treats but is ok with taking pills. Would rather go natural if poss but at this stage anything will be tried

Re: Reasons for chewing/biting in older dog
How long did you try the Joint Aid for? Sometimes it can take up to 8 weeks or more for a difference to become noticeable. I'd certainly give the Mobile Bones a go - it's natural and ethical and it just a pale green powder that is added to feed.
