Sudden change in dog's behaviour

We have rescued 8 year old labx spaniel Jack from a family member in January.

He's very calm dog, not agressive just bit too possessive of his toys. Everytime we come back from a walk we dry him with a towel. Until 4 days ago when he suddenly snapped at me and my partner when we tried to wipe his belly and mouth. He's done it in very agressive way and thx God I had towel in my hand so we bit the towel. He doesnt seem to be in pain as we touched him everywhere and he doesnt mind. He eats well, is very playful etc. Now he wont let us dry him or touch him wheh he is in his bed, he growls, and just goes for us...

His routine hasnt changed at all and we treat him as we did before.

Any ideas as to why he's so snappy and wont let us towel dry him?

P.S. We went to the vet to check a lump we found near his groin but apart from that the vet didnt find anything odd or unusuall.

Re: Sudden change in dog's behaviour

if he`s normally ok with you doing it then i would suggest that he is pain somewhere.
I would take him to the vet and get a full work up done on him.
