The course may be enough to "damp it down" and see an improvement but why it re-occurs.

There are also parisite infections not a worm but a protozoa organism, there is giardia and another called coccidia, again these can damp down but flair up again if not eradicated completely.

If the vet did a 3 day fecal, it should show up if the above were present. The reason a 3 ay is done, is that it increases the chances of finding things. 3 different samples are taken over 3 consequestive days.

Is there any mucos or tiny flecks on blood present anytime in the faeces, that can be a sign of colitis which means the bowel is inflammed, thats usually accompanied by diarrhoea and sometimes the dog just strains and produces a muscos.

No, well the first vet i went to checked her poo by sticking his finger up her bum (oh god i was gagging!!) and said it looked ok. The 2nd vet (which is my usual vet) didn't check. I find that the vets only ever seem to check her tummy and say that she seems fine any time i bring her for whatever reason i bring her!!
As far as the mucus goes, yes, there is a lot of mucus in it - the ones she's done in the house don't have any but they're very wet and then when i let her outside she'll strain for a bit then it's just yellow mucus that comes out - like someone sneezed on it for want of a better way of putting it!!

Went to the pet shop there a while ago and explained my situation and they recommended "Select Gold" - so far she hasn't touched it although they did say that if she won't eat it, bring it back and they'll refund us the full amount so that was good!

Re: 2yr old Shih Tzu - Monthly Bad Stomach

Sorry to hear of your problems. My shih tzu who is 15 months is mainly fed wainwrights wet (lamb or turkey as chicken makes her itchy) and lamb burns kibble. This keeps her nice and firm.
I would def stop the raw hide and see if this make a difference. If you can get them Antos chews are really good - all vegetable based.

Hope she improves.

She still hasn't eaten anything this evening - and it's out of stubborness - i just had pizza and she was all over me trying to get some (she got none by the way!!) She won't even put the Select Gold in her mouth, just sniffs and walks away! At least with the Royal Canine yesterday, she ate a bowl of it. I'll see how she goes this week then i'll get the Orijen, i found a shop not too far from me that sells it

It sounds like she has got a touch of colitis, which can be caused by bacteria, giardia, coccidia or the bacterial infection I mentioned. Worms can also case digestive upsets, has she been wormed regularly and when was the last time. Normal wormers though dont usually include coccidia and giardia, although Panacur paste will do giardia but you need to do it more than just once. If it was dietary or an allergy then I would think it would be occuring a lot more regularly to be honest. It still seems odd that it clears with antibiotics for awhile and then re-occurs again awhile after.
