RTG has the correct bone ratio in their minces. DFC doesn't add veg, don't think RTG does either?

Re: Meat shortage?

Sorry didn't make myself very clear. What I should have asked is do I need to add anything to the DFC food or does it have everything in it already I.e minced bones & offal

Re: Meat shortage?

DFC has various minces, it says if they have bone in on the products page. Mostly, they don't have bone in already, but they do raw meaty bones for 32p a lb, I think. I prefer to give one separately so I know I'm not giving too much, although I tend to use their poo as my best guide!

Re: Meat shortage?

I received my package from RTG and was very happy with the amount that you get for your money even with the postage charges. Another advantage with RTG (who is supplied by DAF from what I understand) is it has the correct bone and offal mix already.

I ordered lamb bones and got a massive lamb head with eyeballs and brains! Wasn't expecting that! And the beef chunks are chunky indeed (4-5 inches squared about 2 inches depth) and I am sure Leila can't wait to get her chops into those. Turkey necks are MASSIVE compared to chicken ones !

The whole thing bit smelly but it was all good as I repackaged them all into freezer bags as it has to share the same freezer as my human food. So far she has liked the chicken and tripe and chicken mince in hooves nom nom nom.

Re: Meat shortage?

Euwwww that was very graphic

I could see the sheeps head and smell the smell. Just confirmed there is no way I could do this.

Shame because I totally agree it's the most natural way to feed. My OH is a butcher too so I am really letting the side down

Re: Meat shortage?

I don't know about a meat shortage but when I went to the pet shop for the dogs meat on saturday I did notice that the price has gone up from 29p a block to 35p a block for chicken and 38p to 45p for green tripe that is since last week. They never said it was going up when OH went last week for the meat.
