Blade has Parvo!?

over the last 12 weeks Blade has had intermittent vomiting and diarrhoea! We took him about 6 weeks ago to the vets as he had bloody diarrhoea and he was treated for gastritis, given antibiotics, pro-biotics and put on chicken and rice. He got better.

THEN .... a month later he had horrendous diaarhoea again, he was given steroid injection but because it was the weekend, no samples sent. He had antibiotics and seemed to get better, he still vomited froth and bile once a week, usually when he was hungry. Took him a couple of weeks ago just for a general check up and chat to the vet about what could possibly be causing this. He sent away a feacal sample.

Well... he rang me friday to say the sample results were back from the lab and they showed negative for parasites, giardia, camplylobactor, coccidiosis

BUT Positive for Parvo??

How come if this is the case the other 2 didn't get it?? He seems well when he has the diarrhoea and is playful etc.

He is due back for a check up tomorrow and has had diarrhoea again tonight, very yellowy and watery!! He is on tablets for his vomiting as the vet wondered if it was over production of acid? He is also fed on I/D at the moment so i just can't work it out!

I have been looking online and many people have reported they got false positive tests that then turned out to be negative with a blood test? I think i am going to insist on the vets doing full bloods when we go tomorrow for his check up. What would you do? I am just getting so worried about it all!!

Has he been vaccinated recently? That could give a false reading

No he hasn't but Matrix was vaccinated the week before Blade's sample was sent away? Would that give Blade a false positive if he has been around Matrix the week after his jab?? I just don't know!!

Re: Blade has Parvo!?

I have heard recently that vaccinated dogs do get Parvo but often the signs are just not so dramatic and the recovery is easier - perhaps this is a correct test result then as that would seem to fit a little with what you have described - I hope all goes well tomorrow and that you have a fit healthy dog again soon
