I just don't know what to think :( Please read :(
Hey there folks,
Wondering if anyone has ever been through this? We have a 11 yr old lab/collie always been full of beans never acts his age! Anyways we found a big mass where his spine is located it was more like a fatty mass you could move it around freely. The vet said he was 99% sure it was not cancer because he had seen it many times before he was given an Op he looked at the tumor and when we took the dog for his return appointment we asked the vet is it cancer? He said no now about a month on he has another lump on the same spot as before and its a harder lump and to be told it's now went from not cancer to stage II lymphoma???? where was stage one then?? and our dog has about four months to live?? ![]() I just dont understand how this can be the case? He's a little bit slower but he is still bright eyed and healthy. We are going to another vets on Monday for a second opinion but I am so upset because we went through the worry when we found the first one and now we are being told when he gets wobbly its time to put him down all in the space of 6 weeks. ![]() |

Definitely get a second opinion. If it is a lymphoma, steroids will help shrink it as long as it's not impacting on the spinal cord.
my big sympathy and hope, fingers crossed, for the best outcome.

What a shock, but it can happen. My standard poodle had what both my vet and I thought was a nail bed infection which was so bad she had to have a digit removed. The sore bit then broke out further up the toe and it was diagnosed as bone cancer and she was given a few months to live. It wasnt the vet's fault, he made a sensible diagnosis on the evidence in front of him and it was just one of those things.
