Re: wet or dry food

The breeder should give you a diet sheet showing what he is currently being fed and it is best to stick with this for the moment as he will be going under a lot of upheavel to start with.

There is no best dog food, if there was we would all be feeding it.

Personally I feed raw but that is a personal choice for what suits my dogs.

Best to stick with what the breeder feeds to start with as already said.

Ours have wet and dry mixed from 8weeks old as thats my choice.

Re: wet or dry food

Definately stick with what he's on. It will be the only thing that remains constant in his little life. When he's settled and innoculated (if you plan to) then you could change if you wanted.

It's down to you and your pup if you choose wet or dry. I struggled for over a year to get mine on a dry only diet and then ages longer - a mix of both.

Turned out she is much better on all wet and struggles to digest kibble. That makes me feel kibble is too processed and I probably wouldnt offer it to another dog.

I wanted her on kibble because I thought it was the best and had no idea that wet foods are now as good.

Re: wet or dry food

I feed both BUT I do feed a very high-quality grain-free dry (Acana). For wet food I like Natures Harvest, Naturediet, AG Partners and NM Menu. I think the combination suits Henry well at the moment and covers all bases.

Re: wet or dry food

I feed both; breakfast is always Barking Heads Dry, dinner is BH with Fish4Dogs salmon mousse topper alternated with BH and a tray of ND (quantities of dry obviously adjusted according to which day it is!!).

It really is up to you what you decide upon (when your pup is settled and ready for the food to be changed).

Re: wet or dry food

I can't get my dog to eat dry food, she just point blank refuses to eat it so I feed her on wet, but she is a fussy eater generally, to be honest, so I am always having to try something different just to get her to eat consistently.

I'm not opposed to raw food either but due to her tendency to leave food sitting in her bowl and not eating it straight away, I'm a bit nervous about leaving raw food down. Even the cooked food has to be lifted and thrown away after a while. I would say go along with whatever your dog decides is right for her.
