Dog eats grass, what wormer can I give

To have him protected from the worms they can get from slug and snail trails etc?

Please note it must NOT be Advocate Spot On I can't use that.

Re: Dog eats grass, what wormer can I give

Going from memory I think Panacur Oral paste can be used as a treatment for Lungworm which is what I think you are worried about as its carried by slugs and snails. Panacur does roundworm, some types of tapeworm and giardia too,
but I think its more a lungworm treament and you have to give it for a week or maybe even two or so, as regards to prevention only Im not sure.

Re: Dog eats grass, what wormer can I give

One thing I forgot to mention if he cant have advocate. The "chemicals" in advocate are Imidacloprid and Moxidectin. So when looking at any other, wormers or flea treatments you are going to have to avoid ones with these in it. Theres Advantage and Advantix too, which I think you may find has got one or the other of these two things in it or maybe even both. As you dont know if its the Imidacloprid or the moxedectin causing the problems, then you will have to avoid anything with either one in it I would think. So look at chemicals it contains rather then the brand name of things.

We really can't prevent our dogs from getting worms 100% of the time, that's for sure.
But just have him checked every year or so and the vet will prescribe meds if needed.

Re: Dog eats grass, what wormer can I give

Rupert hasn't actually had a reaction but my vets suggest I don't use it because they have seen a fair few react to it and seeing as Rupert is intolerant to a few foody things and has undiagnosed allergies.

I know some dogs who's skin has gone all sore and weepy because of it and who have lost hair on it though.
