Wormers

I always use Drontal for my cats, i see that Drontal for dogs only treats roundworm.

I've seen Cestem tablets and am wondering if anyone has any experience of them?

Any other recommendations?

If you get a pup at 8 weeks old, does it get wormed at 12 weeks, then every 3 months?

The Drontal Puppy suspension only does roundworms as far as I can see but the Drontal Plus Dog does all common round worms and tapeworms.
Ive used cestem, and all the dogs were fine with it, Ive used it last 2 or 3 times Ive done them. Cestem does supposed to do every type of intestinal worm in the UK according to the catalogue I have.

The worming programme for pups is usually starting at 2 weeks, then every 2/3 weeks until they are 12 weeks, then monthly up to 6mths, then every 3/4 months like adults. Although different wormers might do a slight variation on this depending on the product.

For Pups I usually use the Panacur oral paste it comes in a syringe it does round worm and some type of tape worm and giardia, but it is mild and a bit more gentle than the others Ive found. with that if I remember correctly you do a half dose for pups 3 days running, then another about 3 weeks later and so on. The directions are on it anyway. Panacur also comes in liquid form for pups and kittens that does all the same parasites as above.

I get mine from vet Medic usually, although there are other vet pharmacies, they do all of the above. Vet-Medic - the same medicines as your vet at consistently low prices., although shop around for best prices. Post is free btw, unless you want 1st class they you just pa the bit exta cost.
