Lumpety bumpety.....

Well, the big Indie Bear has a pea sized lump under her skin which feels very like a sub cutaneous cyst, so I will be keeping a very close eye over the next couple of days and whisking her off to the vets should I feel the need. It's never a nice feeling finding a lump under their skin, but I thought I'd post, as many lumps are actually harmless, either little cysts, or a bit of scar tissue from something you hadn't necessarily noticed. Mention a 'lump', and you immediately think the big, bad 'C', which I am very guilty of, as Indie Bear is absolutely irreplaceable, but I will refrain from headless chicken and update this thread to try and make it informative.

Yep Alf has got two, one on a front leg one on a back, both are nothing serious, he's had them for yeas now.
I did the headless chicken routine for a few days

Re: Lumpety bumpety.....

I make a point of checking them over regularly Rona, it's easy to miss something small on dogs with thick or hairy coats. I also check inside their mouths as I've had friends whose dogs have quickly developed growths on their gums and lips. Indie's lump is still there this morning, still small pea sized and mobile under the skin. She has had something similar before, above her eye, and she is a particularly hairy Labrador!

Re: Lumpety bumpety.....

Rupert had a lump on his left side last summer. It was staying put then randomly vanished after about three weeks..! Was weird that I'd resigned myself to the fact he might be one of the dogs constantly covered in lumps and bumps.
