Hey guys, my sister recently rehomed a 16 month old dog with an undescended testicle. Reason for rehoming, the older male was attacking and dogs had to be kept seperate at all times.

Today my sister spoke to a lady that runs a neutering charity and mentioned her new dog-she was advised to get him neutered asap as an undescended testicle if left will turn cancerous.
She then got in contact with his previous owners and mentioned this to find out what their vets had said on the matter as they had mentioned the matter on first contact. She was told that their vet wasnt concerned and that undescended testicles were 'more common than you think'

she is going to get him neutered any way but the whole thing just smells a bit fishy to me, especially when all 3 dogs were running together with no problems when she picked him up.

Sounds fishy to me too, it's common knowledge that a dog with an undescended testicle should be neutered as soon as possible

definately get him neutered asap, my OH's Aunties yorkie has just died of cancer because of his retained testicle, if only i'd known i would have urged her to get him done

I did a very quick search on the Internet earlier and all info points at neutering as soon as poss.

My sis is just gutted that his owners couldn't be honest with her. She loves LJ to bits and will do anything and everything for him.
I guess that's one of the gambles you take with private rehoming

Thank you, he is a lovely young man-she fell in love with my boy and now has her very own whippet!!! (my Max is perfection on 4,legs so who can blame her lol!!!)
