Anyone good at identifying Lymes?

Yesterday found a patch on the pups belly and assumed it was a bruise(photo2)- She's been ever so slightly limping(front left) since Wednesday and no obvious signs of trauma and it wasn't a hectic walk that day where she was diving about all over the place as usual. We've kept her housebound but the limp isn't getting better or worse, so a trip to the vets tomorrow was in order anyway. This morning I gave her paw yet another thorough going over and the red patch in photo 2 had grown, then I noticed the ring which is around one of two tick sites we have removed from her in the last few weeks, and wasn't there yesterday.
Photos makes me wonder why I'm posting this but it looks so, so obvious it is. I've called the vets who want to see her tomorrow. She's(Cally the dog) getting a bit nippy now when we want to look her over "down there"- she's coming up for 8 months and the vet said she could well be starting her first season

Hope these links work ok if not the're in the BC albums or search there for Lymes.

This site gives the symptoms and lameness is listed as one of them, though I'm sure only the vet can make that call it could be something totally unrelated.
We've avoided using Frontline etc as I was opposed to chemical dosiing of the dog, but I need a drastic rethink as we live in a total woodland/sheep/deer area in the Spey valley in the Higlands which I have been reliably informed is a Lymes hotspot...
Poor wee pup....

Looks like ringworm to me, and much more likely
Or could be hot spots

Re: Anyone good at identifying Lymes?

Think you're correct Rona, thanks for replying. Something is amiss in the 6 hrs after my initial worries there are another 3 red patches already. A friend has popped by with one of Cally's siblings and she said it looked like ringworm too.
Vets tomorrow, will get to the bottom of it. Just the ring around the tick bite sent my mind into overdrive.
Still getting the Frontline or other brand stuff for her.
Now got to google that and worry about something else....

Re: Anyone good at identifying Lymes?

could be ringworm however Lymes does produce a red ring round the site - i know i got it as had a tick in leg for a week - i would take him to the vet and they'll be able to tell you.

All the best

Re: Anyone good at identifying Lymes?

Probably ringworm given that more patches are occuring, although, having seen a lot of Lyme's disease in humans when I was nursing in Germany where it is fairly prevalent, your first photo does have the classic 'bullseye' appearance.

Just best to get it checked out by a professional.

Knowing our luck it'll be both lymes and ringworm! Thanks for the replies
