Best Spot On?

Just wondering which spot on people are using and what you think of it?

At the moment I am using Advocate as my vet no longer supplies Frontline.

I've often looked at the super market ones (Bob Martin), which are a fraction of the price but worried they won't be as good - have I just fallen for the more expensive stuff because it's more expensive?

Anyone get there meds online? I've had a look at a couple of websites and it looks like I could save about £10 a time between my cats and dog but are there any fakes about?

Re: Best Spot On?

Working in the pet shop we offer Frontline or Johnsons spot on and most people will buy the cheaper on but with a flea infestation they usually come back for the frontline as they find the Johnsons not as good as Frontline.

I would stick which what you have as it kills loads of different bugs see here...

Advocate for Dogs is a topical spot-on type medication which treats and prevents flea infestation, prevents heartworm, treats infections of gastrointestinal nematodes including hookworm, roundworm and whipworm, and treats sarcoptic mange, demodicosis and ear mite infestation with a monthly application
Prod_Info

I was recommended by a Shar-Pei breeder to get this for my boy as Peis do suffer from Demodicosis mites and I was told that when the puppeis are sold to recommend the new owners this.

I was told by my vet that Bob Martin or other shop bought ones have been around so long that they are no longer effective on fleas and Frontline is better.

Re: Best Spot On?

You may be able to get Frontline from a chemist Boots ect., but we get ours from Sainsbury's as it has a instore chemist.

You could also try getting it on-line from Petmeds.co.uk they are cheaper so trying them next time.

Re: Best Spot On?

From what I've heard the Frontline is the best product. We went to buy it from a farm & animal feed supplier as it was much cheaper than the vets, but it turned out not to be the frontline combo one...so not much good for keeping all the bugs off!
I'm suprised your vet has stopped selling it, but then I've not heard of Advocate, so I guess it's likely to be as good.
I wouldn't bother with the cheaper stuff though, I've never heard of it working effectively.

There are 'alternative' ways that a lot of people swear by, if you fancy trying a different route.
Here's a website I use for my shampoos & flower essences.. Holistic Pet Supplies - Complementary Remedies for Dogs, Cats & Horses
Very good company!
