Puzzled

I wrote on this forum a few days ago, about my dog Roo who had been told she had Liver cancer, and how devestated we were. However we are very puzzled ... Roo has now totally improved, she is running about on the fields and bouncing about on her short walks, she is like a different dog, than she was a few days ago, her eating is getting better, the symptoms of Liver cancer seem to be so varied but all she has is weight loss and not eating very well, no other signs, but our vet said on the ultra sound scan it shoed masses of cancer, could this be wrong??? I recently had an Ultra sound scan myself and had to go on to have a CT scan as they couldnt see enough on the ultra sound scan to verify any cancer. I know im not a dog but we are beginning to wonder if this diagnosis is right. Can anyone give me some advice? Can vets get it wrong? Roo hasnt had any other tests just the scan. We are definatly seeing a differrent dog to last friday, can the trauma of the scan under anthestic ( Wrong Spelling!) and just the whole ordeal be the reason why she was so unwell for 3 days after the vets visit , she is very nrevous anyhow big time. The only reason we went to the vet was weight loss, but now shes like she was 4 years ago!!!

Re: Puzzled

Glad to hear she's feeling better.
Is your dog now on painkillers?
She could have been affected by the anesthetic, and if she gets stressed, even more so.
Our young Chessie is lethargic for 2-3 days after a vet visit with anesthetic.

Re: Puzzled

Thanks for your reply.... Yes she gets major stressed, has to be sedated for everything she is a very anxious dog, we cant really believe she is supposed to be dying, we are not in denial but she is getting better not worse, find it odd, is it ok to question the vets findings??? No not on any medication at all, isnt in any pain at all. You wouldnt think there was anything wrong with her.

Re: Puzzled

Im so pleased for you that your dog is getting better

You can always go back to your vet and ask them to redo the scan , maybe the equipment was playing up , who knows ... or you can even visit a totally different vet and get a 2nd opinion

for peace of mind id follow it up , better safe than sorry

Re: Puzzled

This is extremely difficult to write and I really, really hope that it isn't the case but having worked with many human cancer patients, there is often a sudden burst of energy before they go downhill.

I hope to goodness that I am completely wrong as I can imagine how you are feeling having been there myself...but just don't want you to get your hopes up too much.

Maybe if there is still improvement, return to the vet and it may have been a horrible mistake.

Please don't think that I am trying to rain on your parade, I would just hate to see your hopes raised and then dashed. It has taken me the best part of today to even consider writing this and if it has caused offence to you I am truly sorry.
