Re: royal canine dog food?

In my opinion there are far better quality foods around for the money. This might help whilst you are researching food: Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble

The problem with asking on here is that all of us with happy healthy dogs will recommend the food we feed; and why wouldn't we? - it obviously suits our dog, but not necessarily all dogs .

It's very expensive for what it is to be honest - it was an awful lot of fillers and cereals, and a low meat content in comparison. You'd be better off with something like James Wellbeloved, Arden Grange, Fish4Dogs, Barking Heads, Acana, Orijen, Wainwrights or if you are on a tight budget, Skinners salmon/duck is a good option.

It's not the worst food available, but you can certainly get better for less

Re: royal canine dog food?

I use Royal canin with my Shelties. Have no complaints at all its great, their coats are nice and their stools are firm.

Its granted not the best food on the market but its not the worst either, and everyones dogs do different on different food.

I was offered a free bag at my vets last week as part of the vaccination offer they had on 4 pups lol, I nicely declined

Re: royal canine dog food?

As said on the other thread:

Some people will warn you off. Personally, for me having the fiussiest little git ever, it was wonderful. I had him settled on Wainwrights wet and RC.

But then we got Harvey and RC gave him the squits...and the pair of them suddenly went off WW for some reason.

Now mine get a combination of raw AMP mince and for Roo Burns mini-bites and for Harvey Skinners Salmon at the mo, and every other day they get Hi-Life coarse mince and/or their complete wet. Its working a treat at the moment, so I'm not complaining.

All about finding what works for your dogs. What works for mine is a variety of 4/5 staple things I can alternate them with. If what works for yours is RC then why not!

Re: royal canine dog food?

I have a Westie that is 13 and for last couple of years has had health problems. The vet suggested RC easily digestible wet food and he has been on this when his stomach gets upset and it has worked well. His stomach has been bad a lot recently and I decided to try the brand specific dry food by RC. Don't know if anyone else has found this but my Westie loves it so much it is almost like he is addicted to it now! He has always loved his food (although was very picky about what he would eat), but with the RC Westie kibble he gets completely over excited when he see the bag.
Has anyone else seen this reaction?

Re: royal canine dog food?

Royal Canin user here, on weaning pups, junior, adult and senior, no complaints from me.

Have tried Fish4Dogs and it gave all my dogs upset tummies even when slowly introduced, so won't be touching that again, even though others rave about it.
