Re: arthritis in my poor dalmatian

Two of my dogs are on prescription PLT tablets (short for something but dont know how to spell it!), tried Glucosamine and Chondridite capsules, they did work to some degree but not that noticeable. Bioflow collar also used with my GSD as they are supposed to help, depends on how bad the arthritis is? My oldie (17yr old x breed) has been on PLT for a year and is now on two tablets a day for his spinal arthritis, he was falling over until he took these tablets and although I he has given me a couple of scares he is now on two a day and is still pottering about albeit somewhat wobbly sometimes, but then he is 17. My 11 yr old GSD who is unfortunately very ill at the moment also takes them and before he got ill I had started to call him Mr Fantastic after he was on them for two weeks as there was such an improvement. They worked really well for my babies but you will know if they suit your dog after about a week, if they cause any problematic side effects then go back to your vet to try something else

Smile Re: arthritis in my poor dalmatian

Hi i too have an 11 year old dalmation called ruby. Also been on metacam and had to take off metacam to put on steroids due to an infection and noticed the difference straight away but also have bought a bio flow magnetic collar off the internet well worth the money and has within 48 hours made a huge difference. Ruby is not dragging her hips as she gets out of the basket in the morning up running and as if she a puppy again. I have also spoken to nurse at pets at home where our vets are and she advised to put on a supplement for older dogs 2 per day for the first 6 weeks It is a 90 day supply and cost £56.00 but i havent given up yet either. Sometimes it is easier to go to pets at home if have a veterinary centre and speak to one of the nurses who specialise in arthritic dogs rather than just talking to your vet. Honestly the collar worked within 48 hours if it helps your dally too then great. look up on internet Bio flow magnetic collar then choose for dogs. I had never heard of it and i thought oh this will not work but it is like the magnetic bracelets that we wear for arthritis. Good luck. Take care Lyn and Ruby

Re: arthritis in my poor dalmatian

I had a 15 year old Dalmatian that had severe arthritis, its so sad to see a dog that spends its whole life racing around and a dog bred to trot have his or her mobility taken away.

Discuss her needs with your Vet, my bitch was prescribed Metacam and couldn't keep any food down (the only thing a Dally likes more than a run is food). She was prescribed steroids and an anti inflammatory drug (the name escapes me) she did get a some relief. Hope he gets better soon.
