Sprays, ointments for Squamous cancer of the nose

hi everyone, i have posted here with you previously about my beloved golden, Erik.

and i am back to ask for more of your help. 8 weeks ago today he was diagnosed with SCC of the nose, he has since had a de-bulking done (last Wednesday), however the tumour has now started to rapidly grow back just under his nostril.

Previously I was refered by my vet to the university of liverpool, oncology dept for radiation therapy (treatment of choice), however, the whole consultation was a fiasco, the young vet (just out of diapers), just wasnt interested in helping with the radiation treatment, he said that on the few dogs which they have performed this treatment they have had no success, and basically just turned their noses to 'mush'. He couldnt offer any other options and i was told to just 'keep an eye' on him!!!!!

Considering that in the UK there are only 3 small animal oncology hospitals and the one i went to is the only one anywhere near to where I live (it was 80 miles away). Looking for an other oncologist is not really an option.

my vet felt so bad for referring me to them, she could not believe that i was treated so badly.

Anyway, this SCC is incredibly agressive, you can almost see it growing before your eyes. i am now going down the holistic route and i am due to be liasing with an holistic vet (hes currently away on holiday) on Monday, via telephone, as he too lives about 150 miles away.

the reason for my posting today, is to ask if anyone has had any dealings with either ointment or nasal sprays for treating this type of cancer. I know that this is an awkward request, as he is bound to lick it off, but any ideas or help/advice of any kind would be so greatly appreciated.

Apart from this 'alien' on and in his nose Erik is very much his normal self. Oh I forgot to mention, since the de-bulking he has stopped sneezing, his breathing is so much better and there are not blood spots which there where when he was sneezing, so that must be a good sign???? I am hoping so anyway. Its just this new growth outside the nostril, but directly below it, which is concerning me now.

Thanks for listening to my ramblings anyways.

Max & Erik
