They are sending me some various samples and once we have been on the Hills DD for a couple of months, I will discuss Nelly's ongoing diet with the vet. This will give me time to do a bit more research.

Re: Pug Allergies (Wheat. Beef, Milk) and Weight!

Mine cant have wheat, milk or beef either. Doesnt react as badly as yours but we have to avoid it. We tried lots and found as little cereal as possible does the trick.
She was on kibbles with quite a large rice content but we cut back on the rice and she is even better.
She has 75% Acana which is cereal free and 25% WW wet which has a v small amount of rice in it.

Once you get used to it, avoiding those 3 things isnt that bad. You just have to deal with the treats in the same fashion which is a bit harder, but worth it

Fish4Dogs is another good cereal free food, and they do a small bite option. My dogs love it, and do really well on it. One is totally cereal intolerant.

My 7lb chihuahua eats orijen kibble and he just swallows it without chewing so your pug should be able to eat it no problem

Re: Pug Allergies (Wheat. Beef, Milk) and Weight!

A friends whippet has loads of allergies she is fed raw now and is ok with that but I think it is chicken she can't have but has lamb and fish.

One of my whippets can't have chicken. He hasn't been tested for an allergy to it but if I give him raw chicken he has big red sore itchy patches on his skin being white it makes it easy to see. When I take him of the chicken and put him on his greyhound food they patches go away. Strangely though he can eat raw chicken wings as a treat without having a reaction but doesn't get them all the time just as a treat.

Heidi is exactly the same - cant tolerate cooked chicken at all but the occasional raw wing goes down a treat. Wonder why that it

Yes, Orijen is a small kibble. The best that money can buy. Only trouble is the price!

I was rather alarmed when I picked the Hills DD (dried and tinned) up from the vets. Apparently it's a month's worth of food for nearly £60. She is coping with the kibble size thankfully and is eating the tinned, but, sorry to be gross, her poo is massive!!
