Personally I am not a fan of either the foods that you mention. Whislt you pup is growing he needs to be fed from foods that arrive at their figures (i.e protien) with good quality product.

Personally my favorite is and always has been Naturediet (they do a puppy of this and I am still feeding it to my 9 month old) This is a wet food and I know a lot of people prefer dry.

My prefered dry food is Arden Grange, but there are many other foods of equal quality i.e Burns etc.

Make sure you feed specific 'puppy' initially.
regards
sue

Re: puppy food

raw meat and bones only, no commercial food, no ready made treats, i make my own, that way they have no artificial stuff. there are lots of threads on here about feeding raw and you can google it and buy books, ajshep is knowledgeble in this area. i buy from a company called landywoods as i have two largish dogs and it works out cheaper than supermarket food, but you have to have the freezer space, lol. trawl back through this section and you will find lots of info, sorry cant write more, have to go shopping in a mo. all in all, people believe that raw is healthier and a more natural way to feed your dog, il be back on later.

I agree with sleeptalker, raw is the best way to feed in my opinion. Here's some good links:

UK BARF Club - The Ultimate BARF and Natural Feeding Guide for Cats and Dogs
The Many Myths of Raw Feeding
Jane Anderson's Raw Learning Site

and the threads on here:

Why Feed Raw?
Raw Feeding Discussion
Raw Diet

and these are some good books:

The Barf Diet: For Cats and Dogs: Ian Billinghurst
Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats: The Ultimate Diet: Kymythy Schulze
Raw Meaty Bones: Promote Health: Tom Lonsdale

If raw isn't for you Orijen is the best dry food available in the UK, it's 70% meat, 30% fruit & veg, no grains/cereals or artificial additives, preservatives etc.

James Wellbeloved is also a good quality dry food, they do a couple of grain free varieties and also a variety of good quality pouched wet foods.

Naturediet (mentioned above) and Natures Menu are good quality wet foods.

Pedigree and Bakers are terrible foods, IAMS is not great either and has been linked to some horrible animal testing in the past. A general rule of thumb is to avoid anything you can buy in a supermarket.
