Re: Chronic Diarrhea - IBS? -

Hi there - thanks for answering. First I have to say that Shadow is treated holistically (my vet is holistic, homeopathic, herbal, he already treated my horse for 10 years, he has written books etc. ) Shadow has not had steroids and he will NOT have them either. I will work something else out myself. My vet has prescribed HILLS. They are treating all knds of 'odd' things. I believe in a RAW food diet for dogs. I have Shadows food made by Real, Raw, Organic Dog Food Supplier - Home and he has organic raw chicken wings and carcasses. The blood test he had revealed that he is lactose, beef, lamb, pork, duck intolerant. Apart from chicken he has fish and eggs (RAW). Yes, I am insured, but I am also in the position to get what I need for him. Shadow had a number of things like digestive enzymes, slippery elm, probiotics and a number of homeopathics. Nothing has really improved his condition. My vet said he is incurable. BUT, I will find a way to sort this out.

It isn't very easy to answer to all of the different views. SOrry, but mine will always stay as natural as possible. Thanks for helping.

Sounds to me like the immune system could have broken down! Has you vet explored this avenue?

Re: Chronic Diarrhea - IBS? -

Sounds like such a poor doggy but I hate to say it, that's what you get for getting a puppy from gypsies.

I don't like Hills, it was prescribed to my friends GSD and he still has the runs all the time. He is now on Arden Grange and because they switched the food three times to find one that agrees with him, the vet said that he has to stay on it now and there's no way they can change the food again. ******** to be honest! They had him on Hills and he lost weight with it too.

Really hope you find something that suits you both to help, I however don't have much advice apart from that from my experience I don't think Hills particularly helps much. He's lucky to have an owner like you who will strive to give him the best natural life he can.
