Well it didn't actually but following on from another thread and a link to a website stating "Sadly, many of the discussions on the message boards are about how ill the dogs are from raw meat/bones."* I thought I'd start a thread to see if feeding raw meat and bones to your dogs has ever made them ill in any way.......

I haven't seen any threads on here relating to problems caused by raw feeding so would be interested to see what this throws up.

I've named the thread so hopefully it will come up on google so even non-members will find it and post problems they've had related to feeding raw, we will see how true this websites claims are.

it gave the pups a bit of the runs but apart from that no ill effects at all

Daisy was awfully constipated for about 3 days after gnawing to much on a knuckle end bone , our own fault though as we left them alone with them for too long we now give lamb rib bones wich they crunch up and eat whole it passes out no problem , but the knucle bones Daisy grinds up cos she doesnt know when to stop and given the fine state it ends up in her tummy it compacts her , she had loads of Lactulose for 2 days and it shifted her evenyually , She did the same on holiday last week left her and Jess with kyle at the cottage for a couple of hours and when we got back she had almost eaten a whole bone , she ended up being sick and fetching it back so no constipation this time , the bone wasnt even hers it belonged to one of the farm dogs lol

RE: tripe , the butcher warned me that whilst tripe is fantastic for dogs to go with cation at the beginning as its a bit like liver/kidney. Full of goodness but it can be over-powering at the beginning and you have to build it up. I have yet to see as don't pick up first tripe till tuesday. some of my friends have passed real neg comments on the fact i'm trying the raw thing out. But the dogs seem happy and lively so far.

Katie has puked a couple of pieces up occasionally, but thats more because of the speed she's eating it at. Thinking she can swallow pieces rather than chew them slightly. Mainly my fault for not cutting it up small enough. No ill effects so far, no sloppy poops or anything.

Only once and she wasn't actually ill, she ate a whole bag of bones, we weren't actually sure which dog had done it, but it soon became obvious, how else do you get a pebble dashed bottom, but other than that which was gluttony rather than raw food none of them have ever had any ill effects.
