Question Meal Time Merry-Go-Round

Hi
I'm Kelso's new 'Mum' and although I've reared several pups before I am baffled by Kelso's behaviour at meal times.
We have had him for just over a week now and when it comes to feed time he seems hungry and eager to get his food. But within minutes he leaves his bowl, walks around in a circle then comes back for a little more. This is repeated over and over again and eventually he just picks bits of his food and leaves a trail through out the kitchen. However if I lift his dish, he immediately starts looking for more food...??????
BTW he is on the recommended quantity of dried food for his breed, age and weight, yet rarely finishes a meal. He also has a feeder stand as he is a large pup and is 15 weeks old.
Can anyone help????Please

What breed is he, what age did you get him and what food are you feeding?

I wouldn't eat Hill's either, do you know what's in it?

Have you considered BARF/raw? If not I would advise looking at a better quality food. Orijen (70% meat, 30% fruit & veg, no grains) is the best dry food in my opinion and James Wellbeloved is also decent quality.

Also have you tried wetting the food before serving? Or possibly adding some wet food to make it more tasty.

Re: Meal Time Merry-Go-Round

Thanks:-)
Hills was recommended by the vet (I hadn't used it before).
Yes, I've tried softening it with water and still the same. Also tried mixing it with tinned food and he seems to like the tinned stuff more, so eats round the Hills 'bits' or drops them on the floor (oops)
My other dogs ate a variety of foods, but these days I keep getting told that the dried food is better for our pooches, not entirely convinced though.

I can't think of any real reason dried food is better than wet, I can think of plenty of myths why it is though.

Have you considered BARF or raw?
