Fleas just won't die!

I have two dogs, and recently, for whatever reason, they've both come down with fleas. So I sprayed them with flea spray, sprayed and washed (or hoovered) all the places they go, (sofa, their beds, etc.) and gave them flea collars.

But the stupid things just won't die! I keep buying spray, keep spraying all over the house, I've used flea powder, etc. but the dogs still have fleas and they still keep jumping onto us, and are still in the places the dogs go.

Does anyone know what I can do to finally kill every single one of them?!

I agree! Frontline is great.

My cats got fleas once so I got some Frontline (it is a bit expensive but worth it) and wooooo they went

You need to make sure you've treated your house, soft furnishings and carpets thoroughly

It's mainly the eggs you gotta worry about, getting rid of them and killing them.

Quote:
One female adult flea can lay anything from four to 40 eggs a day, with the highest concentration of egg-laying occurring in the final two to three days of life. Eggs are oval, around 0.5mm long, white and rounded at both ends. The eggs are non-sticky and so, once laid, they immediately fall onto the ground, wherever the pet travels
So you need to make sure your home has been well treated also, otherwise you're just gonna keep going round in circles lol.

Re: Fleas just won't die!

Cheers you two. Do frontline make a household spray too, or is it just for pets?

If not, what stuff would you recommend for spraying around the house?

Frontline combi, is only available from the vets , but it treats the fleas in your home as well as on your pet.

Re: Fleas just won't die!

My mum had an outbreak a few years ago and after trying everything that you can buy off the shelf and the vets they had to give in and get an exterminator in. The good thing about that was no creepy crawlies, flies, wasps, spiders etc entered the house for about 2 or 3 years after

Re: Fleas just won't die!

Have you thought about getting your house fumigated? I know when I was younger and we had 7 cats and a dog we had to as it was constant. Having that done soon solved the problem as it kills the eggs etc just need to make sure that you also treat the dogs as you have been using a good quality spray from the vets good luck and hope you don't get eaten alive in the mean time

must have posted at the same time Gillieworm
