Need help ASAP!

Hello. My Shar Pei is going through something like an allergic reaction. Her face is swolen and, and it's red around her anal region, too. Her temp is high as well, 39 degrees Celsius. I called the 24/7 hotline for dog emergencies , but no one was there. How ironic. I don't know what to do! It's about 2 am here as well. Any ideas on what should I do?

Do you have a vet hospital near you? I don't know where you live, but there is one in wanstead, east london - they are amazing

Good luck, I hope your dog is ok

No I don't. It would take 1.5 hours to get there (I live in a post-soviet country). Do you think I could give human anti-allergy pills to her? It's probably one of the only things I could do.

Re: Need help ASAP!

you need to get her to a vet asap, it doesn't matter if it's not your usual vet. keep trying the emergency line, maybe because it early hours it's not staffed as well as it would be during the daytime.
good luck, hope all goes well with your dog

Re: Need help ASAP!

I tried everything written above , but I already gave one pill (Fencal, used for alertic reactions.). She's not going around scratching anymore, and she's already lieing down. It's not out of weeknes, she can still stand up and such. She probably is just tired, afterall, its 2:25, I'm tired too. The pill is having an affect I think, the swelling and reddning is becoming less prominet.

What antihistamine's do you have? Most are safe for dogs but if it's a really bad reaction you could do with getting to the vet for a steriod jab. Chlorpehniramine, Clemastine, Cyproheptadine, Diphenhydramine and Loratadine are safe for dogs.

I used Clemastine. She's pretty ok. The swelling is almost gone. She's drinking her water right now, she's really thirsty. I'm report her status tommorow.
