Raw food!!

Following on from my last thread about getting them to eat. I was wondering if it would be worth adding some raw diet to keep them more interested in what they are eating. If they don't eat their food i do the picking it up and leaving them until next meal but this doesn't seem to bother either of them. I've read many threads on here about raw diets and just thought it may be a better option but i'm really confusedxx

Re: Raw food!!

i would say stick with the picking up buisness and dont get yourself stressed over them not eating as they wont starve, unless of course you want to give them raw then its up to you, but i think the more you fuss round a dog about food then they become more fussy about food too, its always best to stick to one diet than lots of differant just to see what they will or wont eat as it just makes them fussy eaters and can cause upset tummies.

Re: Raw food!!

unless your going to fed raw i would stick to picking the food up and let them go hungry,
like has already been said the more you fuss around with their food the more fussy they will get and your end up with a nightmare on your hands.
if you want to go on to raw read give the dog a bone by dr lan billinghurst, really good book lots of info.

Re: Raw food!!

I have fed my dog raw since he was around 5 months old. He was very fussy and refused to eat, i tried picking his food up etc but it didnt work and he refused to eat. I then started reading into raw food, and i gave him a chicken carcass...since then i have never looked back. if you dont want to start feeding raw in a whole you should try "naturediet" it is all natural..bit smelly but any dog i know LOVES it. It come in a páte form. let me know how you get on

Re: Raw food!!

mixing dryfood with raw meat is not a good idea!

between raw meat meal and dryfood meal should be 6 hours.

lots of dogs can't handle dryfood with raw meat, because both has totally different alimentary times and alimentary processes ! they get diarrhea and flatulences

you should get a good barf book (dr. billinghurst - author), read through and dare you to start with complete raw food diet without any kibble !

it's the best what you can give your dog !
