How long have your dogs starved themselves for?

Im going to a show bank holiday august weekend and i have been advised to take just dry food cos if i take bones or wet food, 1 - because i cant keep it frozen and 2 - it might cause some arguements with other dogs
Anyway mine eat raw but normally have complete mixed in with the minced tripe or turkey so in a attempt to get them used to just complete i have been TRYING to feed them just complete much to their disgust. They have now gone 2 days without eating and I know a dog will never starve themselves but this is just stupid now.
So what is the longest your dogs have protested for?

Hi Jem - it might not matter in the end what food you take 'cos if your dogs are anything like ours, they won't eat if they are at a show. Ours prefer to wait until they get home no matter what food we take for them, even Evie who is the greediest dog I've ever had! We wasted no end of food before we finally decided it was a waste of time and money; so the only time we take food now is if we are staying overnight and we give it to them when we get to the Travelodge or whatever- even then they don't eat much!

Re: How long have your dogs starved themselves for?

what i did was i got a couple of packets of the nature diet to see if they liked them, they woofed it down.
but for the sat and sun im taking fresh, as can get some out the night before so is defrosted and then get some out in the morning when we leave so still will be frozen and ok until sunday.
then from then they will go onto nature and any butchers i can find on the way up.

Re: How long have your dogs starved themselves for?

See i dont want to make them ill and I know that the change will give them the runs so i have reduced the meat over last week but its only this week that they've flatly refused to eat it
I understand why they are doing it as complete must be pants compared to mince n turkey
So is the best thing to do is just take a few frozen blocks with us?

i would just feed them inside away from the other dogs and someone stand out side to stop any other dogs trying to get in,
that what im gonna do mm can stand outside,
