Puppy Dandruff

I have a litter of retriever pups. They are now 4 weeks old and thriving. Only problem is all the girls have what looks like dandruff. Started on just one or two and thought it might be dried on milk but now all the girls have it mostly at the rumps and hind quarters. They are feeding well on royal canin and still on mums milf few times a day. I am going to try giving them a bath with very mild shampoo but any suggestions would be great and has anyone else had this problem before.

Is it ok to use human shampoo. Keep reading things that say not to.

Don't listen to Bordie - he's having a laugh

I wouldn't use anything as strong as Head and Shoulder.

Not sure what to suggest - hopefully someone with experience will be along soon.

Re: Puppy Dandruff

Sounds like Cheyletiella, also known as 'walking dandruff'.

It is often carried on adult dogs without noticing but does seem to love young pups, probably as their immune system is lower.

I have had it in a litter(thanks to having working terriers as it is actually a mite) and using the frontline spray will get rid of it.
