Skinners maintainence

Just got some samples and this is the first dry food Millie will eat without mixing it with wet food. What does everyone think of it as I know alot of you use the salmon one? Thanks.

Re: Skinners maintainence

Hi.Im not really a fan of the maintenance myself,and my dogs didnt do well on it (labs).You will see the first two ingredients are fillers.Theres better foods out there in my opinion.

ingredients;
Whole wheat, maize, poultry meat meal,
barley, chicken fat, beet pulp, vitamins and
minerals.

Re: Skinners maintainence

Agree with the above really. I'm a big fan of skinners but only ever recommend the salmon and rice, suck and rice or lamb and rice (the puppy too if someone is after puppy food). As these are, I believe, the oly hypo allergenic ones they do.

Re: Skinners maintainence

It doesn't matter if the dog has allergies, they can very easily develop them, just like we can. The point to Hypo-allergenic foods is they contain less of the things knows to cause allergies in dogs.

I fed my two on Skinners duck and rice and Skinners salmon and rice. And Novak has a sensitive stomach, so obvgiously I'd recommend those two.

Re: Skinners maintainence

I use the salmon and rice because after reading lots here, I decided I would prefer as few cereal as possible. The adult maintenance has too many cereals for my liking but my friend feeds it to her JR no probs at all and I know a few on here use it, so it's up to the individual. We all have different opinions.

My favourite food in the budget price bracket is Vitalin Adult Maintenance Chicken. It has a good meat content and is cereal free. Unfortunately, altho I got samples, Heidi wasnt as keen on the vitalin as she was the salmon and potato. I fought to get her to eat her puppy food which was my choice and wasnt going down that route again. She doesnt like potato which doesnt help much (most cereal free use potato) so I have stuck with the skinners and she has bones and some raw to top up the low meat content.
